Sign PDFs
Draw your signature with a finger, drop it onto any page and resize it to fit the line. The signed PDF is ready to send in under a minute.
Most signing jobs are simple: a lease page, a permission slip, a form from HR. You need your signature on the right line and a PDF to send back. Scanpaper does that on the phone, with no printer and no second scan.
How to sign
- Open the document (a scan, or a PDF you imported from Files) and tap Sign.
- The first time, draw your signature with your finger and save it.
- Pick the signature and it drops onto the page. Drag it to the line and resize it to fit.
- Tap Done, then share or export the signed PDF.
The signature sits on that page from then on. If you place it in the wrong spot, you can remove the signatures on the page and place it again.
Signature library
Saved signatures live in My Signatures on the Tools tab, in three tabs:
- Signatures for your full name.
- Initials for the corner of every page of a contract.
- Stamps for anything else you place often.
The free tier keeps one saved signature. Pro keeps as many signatures, initials and stamps as you like, which helps if you sign for yourself and for a business.
Before you sign
A few things make the signed copy look right:
- Scan with the Original or Auto filter if the document has colored text or a letterhead you want to keep.
- Use Add to scan any pages you still need into the same document before you sign, so everything goes back as one file.
- Add a date or your printed name with the Text tool in markup.
- Sign every page that asks for it. Place your full signature on the last page and your initials from the Initials tab on the others, if the document wants both.
What this feature is
Signing in Scanpaper means placing your own signature image on a page. It isn’t an e-signature workflow: there’s no sending for signature, no audit trail and no certified digital signature. Plenty of “sign and return” requests only need a signed PDF; when a sender requires a specific signing service, follow their instructions.
Signing with one saved signature is free. Unlimited signatures, initials and stamps are part of Scanpaper Pro.
Questions
Is signing free?
Yes. You can draw, save and place one signature for free, on as many pages and documents as you like. Pro adds unlimited saved signatures, initials and stamps.
Can I sign a PDF someone emailed me?
Yes. Save the PDF to the Files app, import it into Scanpaper, then open it and tap Sign. Export the signed copy and send it back.
Is this a legally certified e-signature?
No. Scanpaper places an image of your signature on the page, the same as signing a printout and scanning it. It doesn't send documents out for signature, keep an audit trail or add a certificate. If the other side needs one of those, use the service they specify.
