Scan to PDF
Point the camera at a page and Scanpaper finds the edges, takes the shot when the page holds still and straightens it into a clean PDF page.
Scanpaper has its own camera screen built for paper. A red outline tracks the page live, and with Auto on, the shutter fires by itself once the page stops moving. Switch to Manual when you’d rather press the button yourself, and turn on the torch for a dim room.
How a scan works
- Tap the scan button and keep the mode on Document (the default).
- Hold the phone over the page. The outline snaps to the edges and the page is captured when it’s steady.
- Turn to the next page and repeat. Each capture is added to the same document; the counter in the corner shows how many you have.
- Tap Done to review.
Perspective is corrected at capture, so a page shot at a slight angle comes out as a flat rectangle.
Review and clean up
On the review screen you can fix each page before saving:
- Filters: Original, Auto, Grayscale, B&W, Lighten and No Shadow. B&W suits plain text; Original keeps color for receipts with stamps or photos.
- Rotate, crop or retake any page.
- Add pages later from the document view, and drag pages into a new order in the pages grid.
After that, the markup tools let you add text, highlight a line, draw with a pen or black out something you don’t want to share.
Capture modes
The mode strip under the viewfinder has 5 options. Photo takes a plain picture with no edge detection, and Document is the scanner.
ID card, Passport and Book (which splits a two-page spread down the middle) are part of Pro.
Export
Share the result as a PDF or as JPG images, print it, or save it to the Files app. Page size can be fit to scan, A4 or Letter. The scan quality setting is Medium on the free tier; High is part of Pro.
You can also import photos (JPG, PNG, HEIC, WebP), PDFs from Files, or a file from a URL, and work with them the same way as a scan.
Everything stays on your phone. There’s no account and no cloud upload, so a scan of a lease or a tax form sits only where you put it.
Questions
Is scanning to PDF free in Scanpaper?
Yes. The camera, auto capture, Photo and Document modes, filters, markup and PDF export are all free. The free tier holds up to 3 documents with unlimited pages each, and free PDFs carry a small grey 'Scanned with Scanpaper' line in one corner. Pro removes the line and the document limit.
Can I scan several pages into one PDF?
Yes. Keep shooting in the same session and every page joins the same document. You can also open a document later, tap Add and scan more pages onto the end.
Do I need an account or internet connection?
No account, no sign-up. Scans are made and stored on your phone, and they leave it only when you share or export them.
Can I turn existing photos into a PDF instead?
Yes. Import JPG, PNG, HEIC or WebP photos from your library, or PDFs and images from the Files app, and Scanpaper turns them into document pages.
