Merge and split PDFs
Join several documents into one, pull pages out into a new document, or drag pages into the right order. All of it is free.
Paperwork rarely arrives in one piece. The contract is in one scan and its annex in another, or the bank wants page 2 of a statement and nothing else. Scanpaper handles both directions on the phone.
Merge documents into one
There are two ways in:
- On the Tools tab, tap Merge PDFs (“Combine documents into one”) and pick the documents.
- In Documents, select several documents and tap Merge.
The merged document is a new one named with the date, and the documents you merged from stay as they were. You can merge scans with PDFs you imported from the Files app, so a form someone emailed you and the pages you scanned can go back as a single file.
Split pages into a new document
Open a document, go to Manage Pages and select the pages you want to separate. Tap Split and they move into a new document of their own. The original keeps the rest.
That’s handy for:
- Sending one page of a long statement without the others.
- Separating two documents you scanned in one session by mistake.
- Pulling a signed page out to send on its own.
If you only need to send a few pages once, you can also share a subset of pages straight from the pages grid without making a new document.
Reorder and delete pages
In Manage Pages, hold a page and drag it to a new spot. Select pages and delete them to drop blanks or duplicates. A document always keeps at least one page.
You can add more pages any time: open the document, tap Add and keep scanning.
If you’re scanning a long document from scratch, it’s quicker to shoot every page in one session than to scan in pieces and merge later. The multi-page scanning guide walks through that, including how to fix the order afterwards.
On a computer
The site has free browser tools that do the same jobs on any device: merge PDF and split PDF. They run in your browser without uploading the files. They’re separate from the app and don’t sync with it.
Merging, splitting and reordering are free in Scanpaper on iPhone and Android.
Questions
Are merge and split free?
Yes. Merging documents, splitting pages out, reordering and deleting pages are all free in Scanpaper. The free tier holds up to 3 documents, and its PDFs carry a small 'Scanned with Scanpaper' line in one corner.
Can I merge a PDF I received with my own scan?
Yes. Import the PDF from the Files app first. It becomes a document in your library, and you can merge it with any scan.
How do I add a page to a document I already scanned?
Open the document and tap Add to scan more pages onto the end. Then open Manage Pages and drag the new page to where it belongs.
